Our History

Founded in 1956 by Mr. Roger BELLOT, initially in Sauveterre-de-Guyenne (Gironde - France) and then transferred shortly afterwards to Talence (Bordeaux suburb - Gironde - France), the BELLOT company has been designing and manufacturing winemaking equipment for over 50 years.
In 1956, BELLOT designed the 56 aseptic bung, specifically adapted for emptying wine tanks. At the same time, BELLOT developed a wide range of hatches for wine tanks. These revolutionary hatches, whose design remains unmatched to this day, are made of PVC and stainless steel. Originally, they incorporated an aseptic valve in their center. These lightweight, rigid, practical, and easy-to-clean hatches are perfectly suited for aging wines in tanks.
From the moment they appeared, these hatches were met with high praise from the winemaking community, from owners to oenologists alike. These wine tank hatches currently offer all the advantages one could expect from this type of equipment.
In 1963, BELLOT continued its development and invented the 63 aseptic bungs and the 63 hydraulic bungs. Two principles allowing wines to be preserved in full tanks.
During these same years, BELLOT developed complete winemaking units and offered its customers the first self-emptying tanks. These tanks would be manufactured under license by the MIROIR company.
Dozens of winemaking workshops, bearing the BELLOT name, were established during these same years. They are still in operation today.
Mr. Jean Bellot took over from Roger in the mid-1970s. Continuing his creative momentum, Bellot invented and developed valves, tasting taps, level taps, hatches, tank doors, aseptic bungs, and hydraulic bungs. In addition, Bellot distributed BOYER tank doors for standard doors (a distribution we continue to this day) and SMERALDO piston pumps.
In the 1980s, following the death of Mr. Jean BELLOT, Mr. Hubert KARRASCH took over the BELLOT company, he managed and developed it until January 2002, the date of his death.
In 1982, BELLOT developed a juice filtration system to ensure clean, solid-free juice for pump-overs. This filtration system, consisting of a stainless steel louvered grid, is a significant improvement over the bundles of vine shoots and other wooden systems typically used in French wineries.
Also during these same years, BELLOT developed special doors for drinking water treatment tanks.
In 1989, BELLOT moved to the town of GRADIGNAN (Suburb of Bordeaux - Gironde - France).
Our company continues to develop a wide range of winemaking equipment and has entered into partnership agreements with companies such as KIESEL, a German manufacturer of helical rotor pumps. We are also continuing to develop our partnership with ENOPOMPE piston pumps and BOYER door manufacturers.
In 2002, following the death of Hubert KARRASCH, his sons Laurent and Bertrand KARRASCH took over the management of the company.
Under their leadership, BELLOT developed other partnerships, including with CME, a manufacturer of piston and peristaltic pumps, and with ELICA, a manufacturer of tank doors.
In addition to these new partnerships, our company offers a wide range of water treatment access hatches and drinking water filter doors. These products are approved for contact with drinking water.
In 2005, BELLOT acquired the activities of GARNIER GEFFROY, manufacturer of GEFFROY aseptic glass drain plugs. This acquisition provided our company with a complete product range for wooden tanks as well as a wide selection of taps, valves, and fittings.
BELLOT integrates the GARNIER GEFFROY brand into its own manufacturing processes and intends it for GEFFROY aseptic bungs as well as for cooperage products.
With the acquisition of GARNIER GEFFROY, BELLOT now integrates the valves and fittings of CAE, a manufacturer of valves and fittings for the wine industry.
In 2008, we developed the VOG210 drain plug, intended to replace the VOG63. To achieve this, Bellot partnered with the design agency "Design For You," headed by designer Boris Bracq. He and his team developed a completely innovative drain plug, which won the 2009 Aquitaine Industrial Design Trophy, with a special mention for eco-design. This new VOG210 drain plug stylishly renews the 50-year history of our VOG63 drain plug.
Today, our company relies on a network of experts dedicated to the quality of the products and services we offer. We are constantly listening to our end-user, distributor, and integrator clients to ensure we consistently provide them with high-quality products and impeccable service.
To achieve this, we maintain a constant stock of thousands of spare parts for all the pump ranges we distribute:
